My clients become treasured friends. It’s one of the things I love most about what I do… because there’s nothing more enjoyable than developing that connection while designing and fabricating your custom window treatments, pillows and bedding.
And providing those completely personal touches with monograms and high end embroidery makes me unique in the market. That means your home is uniquely and entirely yours; you’ll never see the same piece at a neighbor’s or friend’s house. We will collaborate until I see that special spark… that twinkle that tells me we’ve found exactly what makes your soul sing!
Recently we’ve even added slipcovers and upholstery to round out our complete room makeovers.
My journey into design was a bit unexpected.
I didn’t always have this need to be creative. Exactly the opposite, in fact. It wasn’t until my health forced me to make a drastic change that I began to recognize a creative voice whispering within me.
And, as cliche as it sounds, it all began by accident.
Let me backup a little… to explain how fate had a helping hand in showing me this path that became my second ‘calling’.
July 3, 2000. I’ll never forget my first day as City Manager. It’s easy to remember the date- it’s just 2 days after Michael and I were married. AND we moved as well. Such a hectic time. But boy oh boy I was happy…I felt like I was in my own little world- standing on top of my own self-made mountain.

To say that I loved my career would be a massive understatement. I was 26 years old and living my dream.
But one word changed it all: Lupus. Two years following diagnosis, I finally accepted that I needed to resign. I have never felt such heartbreak as I did on that last day as City Manager. And I hope I never experience that again.
We packed up and moved to Atlanta. And the next few years brought two very significant firsts:
- We got the cutest little Bichon Frise! Lulu is the sweetest thing- a fiercely loyal companion. She looks froufrou but really prefers to roll in the mud .I often refer to her as Velcro. Yep- every step I take, every move I make. And I wouldn’t change anything about her. She’s 13 years old. And lulu kate designs is named after her.
- A friend loaned me a sewing machine that she wasn’t using and said maybe I could have fun learning to use it. THAT’S ALL IT TOOK!
I found my true calling. And I’ve taken every opportunity over the last few years to develop my skills and explore new techniques.
And throughout it all, I realize how extremely blessed and fortunate I really am. I’ve also learned that if there’s something you’re meant to do, you can find a way to do it.
I love what I do!

Our Team

Kip Ford
Kip specializes in fabrication and has such amazing attention to detail. It is an honor to have him partner with me on various projects. He can often be found on the other side of the worktable when we’re fabricating extra long drapes or expertly making pillows. He’s always up for an adventure, conference or workshop. He’s one of the hardest (and smartest) working individuals I’ve ever known.

Michele McShane
Michele has an eye for high-end embroidery stitch detail that is just fascinating. Her inquisitive nature, this eye for high end stitch detail and the desire to see every project from start to finish mean she won’t be an Embroidery Apprentice for very long. She also keeps me on my toes with well-thought questions and the desire to constantly learn more.
